Revival of local folk music of kasauli
In the good old days local folk music of Himachal Pradesh was very popular in kasauli and surrounding areas. With the popularity of bollywood music , the tradional music seems to be lost somewhere. Kasauli was famous for its rich traditions, culture, heritage, cuisines & most importantly its melodious folklore. Saran Das is a local folk singer who hails from a small village in Chamba. He can be located sitting in Khajjiar, Chamba entertaining tourists & visitors from across the world singing beautiful himachali folk songs in his melodious voice.
Late OM Puri was denied entry into the kasauli club
In the year 2015 the legend OM Puri was invited to take part in the kasauli lit fest held at the kasauli club. With his shirt tucked out and slippers on his feet, Om Puri came to take part in the lit fest. He was not allowed to enter the club as dress code is being followed since the Britisher era. Om Puri was stunned with this and replied ” I have spent my life in slippers like a fakeer and now you want me to wear leather shoes”. Later he came back dressed formally to take part.
