Kasauli is known for its wild life , but the tourist very rarely get to see it. The monitor lizzard is one of them. It is a very shy creature, but when it comes to self defence it can chop a person’s leg in one go with its tail. In olden days it was used by thieves to scale tall buildings as the monitor lizzards claws have firm grip. The monitor lizard was also used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to climb the sides of a fort’s wall.
